Why Users Are Switching from Privnote

🔐

True Zero-Knowledge Privacy

When you submit a secret on VanishShare, your browser generates a 256-bit AES key and encrypts both text and files prior to dispatch. The host never sees plaintext.

📎

Encrypted File Attachments

Need to transfer a TLS certificate, SSH private key, .env file, or sensitive PDF? VanishShare handles files with the exact same client-side cryptographic envelope.

🛡️

MFA Recipient Protection

Worried someone might intercept the secret link in a chat app? Add authorized recipient emails; VanishShare requires an email OTP before revealing the secret.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about switching from Privnote or OneTimeSecret.

Why is VanishShare a better alternative to Privnote?
Unlike older services that encrypt notes on the server, VanishShare performs 100% of cryptography client-side in your browser using the Web Crypto API (AES-256-GCM). The decryption key resides exclusively in the URL hash fragment (#) and is never transmitted to or readable by our servers.
Does VanishShare support file attachments?
Yes. VanishShare allows you to encrypt and share temporary files, certificates, keys, and documents up to 200KB alongside secret text notes. Privnote only supports plain text notes.
What happens after a secret is viewed or expires?
Once the maximum download limit is reached or the Time-To-Live (TTL) timer expires, the encrypted blob is completely and permanently purged from server memory and storage. There are no backups or recovery mechanisms.
Can I require recipient identity verification?
Yes. You can restrict decryption to specific email addresses. VanishShare will dispatch a 6-digit one-time passcode (OTP) before granting access to the encrypted payload.
